Schenectady Takes Round 1 in Deciding Game

In a series that had a little bit of everything, the Schenectady Grasshoppers have edged the Qubec City Poutine.
The two rival clubs went the distance in the tightly-contested Round 1, with a 11-5 win in the clincher being the difference for Schenectady and giving them the ticket to the Round 2 with a 4-3 series triumph.
"We never stopped believing in ourselves. When push came to shove we were going to get it done," said Marat Kapula, who was named series MVP.
For the series, Kapula hit .480 with a .519 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 11 RBI and scored 4 runs.
The Schenectady Grasshoppers will play against the Houston Orange Kings in the next round. Houston won their series against the Baxter Dingos 4 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.

Round 1 Goes the Distance, Moscow Prevails

The Moscow Mules and Traverse City Cherries put on a classic Round 1 that was in question until the final game.
In the end, Moscow won the deciding contest by a score of 3-0, to take the series 4-3.
"It doesn't get much tighter than that. To win a series in the last game is a thrill," said Elliot Hannah, who earned series MVP honors for Moscow. "Our guys are breathing a little easier now."
For the series, Hannah hit .387 with a .472 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 8 runs.
The Moscow Mules will play against the Albuquerque Roadrunners in the next round. Albuquerque won their series against the Acadia Peregrines 4 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
