Skeeters Prevail, as Round 1 Goes to the Wire

The Glendale Skeeters and Tucson Ocelot hooked up in a classic Round 1 that went right down to the wire.
In the end, it's Glendale heading off to the Round 2, after a 3-2 win at Ocelot Ballpark tonight earned the 4-3 series win.
Outside Ocelot Ballpark, whether they were supporters of Glendale or Tucson, many fans talked about how it was a series they would never forget.
Billy Rodriguez played the hero for the Skeeters in the series, as his MVP performance included a .435 batting average, with a .567 on-base percentage. He also had 1 home runs, 3 RBI and scored 5 runs.
The Glendale Skeeters will play against the Fresno Orange Sox in the next round. Fresno won their series against the Key West Lime Pies 4 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.

Baltimore Wins Round 1

The Round 1 didn't live up to the billing from those who thought it would be an all-out battle to the last game.
But the Baltimore Jaspers are no doubt pleased by the results, as they have knocked out the Galway Gales 4-2 to advance to the Round 2.
"It doesn't matter how you win it, as long as you win it and get yourself moving forward," said Jaspers left fielder Enrique Mendez. "I know a lot of people thought this was going to be a really tight series the whole way through, but we're glad it didn't go right down to the wire."
Baltimore won the final game by a score of 3-2 at Ballpark of Baltimore.
Mendez was named series MVP after hitting .391 with a .440 on-base percentage. He also had 0 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 2 runs.
The Baltimore Jaspers will play against the Hartford Defenders in the next round. Hartford won their series against the Omaha Steaks 4 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
