In a low-scoring contest between the Buffalo Buffalo and the Portland Beavers, Glenn DePue, who is tied for 9th in the AL in complete games with 1, proved to be the difference. The Buffalo right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-2 Buffalo win. The save went to Randy Nelson, his 15th this season. The second-place Buffalo are 75-83.

Nick Koonts, who finished 2nd in the AL in runs with 94 in 2041, had a direct impact on the outcome. Koonts contributed a run-scoring triple in the top of the seventh inning to put Buffalo up, 3-0.

"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Koonts. "You've got to get results."
