Espinal Put in Cooler, Hitless Against Phoenix
Wednesday, December 14th , 2050
Maybe it really is taboo to talk about a hitting streak before it's over. Hours after speaking to the press about his 2-game hitting streak, Philadelphia right fielder Fernando Espinal went hitless in 4 at-bats at UCLA Stadium.
The sudden hitting drought came as the Spartans snagged the 19-0 win over the Phoenix Moose.
"Nope, it's not magic," Espinal said in his postgame press conference. "Nobody jinxed me. Streaks don't last forever. I've heard about it every day for weeks now. My roomie told me to get a hit before every game and wished me luck. I just ran out of hits."
So far this year in 8 games, Espinal is hitting .515 with 3 home runs, 14 RBIs and 8 runs scored.
