Marin Belts Bunch of Base Hits Sunday, May 28th , 2051 After his 5-hit effort at Mavericks Field was tarnished by Portland's 4-3 loss to the Reno Rattlers, center fielder Ruben Marin told BNN beat writers it was "a missed opportunity for a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "I would have been happy to stop there if it meant we got a win." He didn't get the win, but the 19-year-old had a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Rattlers. "His swing is getting there," said Mavericks skipper Colt Clark after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Ruben did that to perfection and we wasted it." Ruben Marin doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI triple in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Jeff Guerrero in the 9th. View Boxscore |
