Rhome Tops Long Beach Sunday, October 2nd , 2050 The Rhome Rhavioli earned their 3rd Round 3 title and now have all winter to spend basking in the glory, while the beaten Long Beach Paradise will have plenty of time to wonder what went wrong. Rhome became the CBD Rookie League champion for 2050 with a 3-2 triumph to capture the series 4-3. "Both clubs are talented. We just made fewer mistakes than they did," winning manager Tom Scherger said to the press corps at the postgame press conference. "We made the crucial plays and got the timely hits." Long Beach skipper David Saldana agreed with that assessment, saying his club turned out to be "a little weak on fundamentals" at crucial times. "I have a sneaking suspicion we will be working on fundamentals a lot next spring," he said. On the way to the Round 3 championship, the Rhavioli ended up in second place in the Division 1 and compiled a 77-43 record during the regular season. View Boxscore |
