5-Hit Game for Laird
Sunday, September 17th , 2051
5 hits in a game is a rare thing, but Long Beach's Nate Laird made it happen against the Generals. Everything came together at the plate for the 19-year-old catcher as he collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats -- and helped the Paradise triumph, 27-7, at Ballpark of Colorado Springs.

"I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Laird said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em."

Nate Laird singled in the 2nd, walked in the 3rd, reached via catchers interference in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.

Looking at his stats this year, Laird has compiled a .325 batting average, while hitting 2 home runs and driving in 19 runs. He has played in 29 games and scored 21 runs.

Starr 5-for-6 Against Colorado Springs
Sunday, September 17th , 2051
The Long Beach Paradise stopped the Colorado Springs Generals by a score of 27-7 at Ballpark of Colorado Springs, with the lion's share of the credit going to third baseman Brian Starr. The 19-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.

"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Starr said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."

Starr did just that in his 6 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Generals.

"Not much that I can say," offered Colorado Springs manager Collin Walker. "He just hammered the heck out of us."

Brian Starr singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, walked in the 5th, singled in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th.

Starr is batting .305 this year with 14 home runs, 68 RBIs and 92 runs scored. He has 149 hits in 489 at-bats.
