Beltran Torches Sea Eagles for 5 Hits

No matter what the Sapporo Sea Eagles threw at him, Sergio Beltran hit it. He easily handled Sea Eagles pitching, going 5 for 6 and helping the Bratwurst triumph, 17-9, at Bratwurst Park.
"The way I was swinging, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball," he told BNN reporters in the postgame interview.
Told of Beltran's quip, Sea Eagles skipper Steve Thuringer said he "would take him up on that next time."
Sergio Beltran hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 6th and flied out in the 8th.
Thus far this year, Beltran is batting .382 with 5 home runs, 63 RBIs and 65 runs scored.

Galveston's Walters to Miss Season

Tommy Walters of the Gumdrops just might have to call it quits for the season. The 22-year-old Galveston second baseman received a possible season-ending injury against the Cork Claws recently at Gumdrops Grounds. Walters suffered a torn labrum while colliding with a player at a base. The Gumdrops medical staff said he could be out quite some time, as much as 9-10 months.
This season, Walters is batting .343 with 3 home runs. His totals include 9 RBIs and 9 runs scored.

5-Hit Game for Herbert

It was a sensational day at the plate for Matt Herbert as he led the charge to a nifty 9-2 win over the Kooks. The Pueto Rico second baseman was pure misery for the California pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 5 hits in 6 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.
"Herbert put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said Blake Johnstone, manager for the Kooks, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
Matt Herbert hit a solo-shot off Pat Kingston in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, flied out in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Edward Carrera in the 9th.
Herbert is hitting .408 in 2051 with 13 RBIs and 4 home runs.
