Joe McKinney Hurt, Out for Year Saturday, August 31st , 2052 The doctors have spoken and Joe McKinney of the Grosse Pointe Better Mades didn't like what he heard. The 18-year-old closer is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. McKinney sustained his season-ending injury during the California Kooks game yesterday at Grosse Pointe Grounds. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Grosse Pointe medical staff reported McKinney had shoulder inflammation and would be absent from the lineup for at least 5 months. This year, McKinney has made 18 relief appearances and saved 5. His record is 1-3 with 4 strikeouts in 16.1 innings and a 3.86 ERA. |
