Vickroy Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits Saturday, July 27th , 2052 After a 5-hit effort to lead Galveston's 18-9 victory over the California Kooks, catcher Casey Vickroy told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the CBD Rookie League-level is really something special." The 19-year-old player earned his accolades at Kooks Ballpark with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Kooks. "His swing is getting there," said Gumdrops skipper Jonathan Bonner, who spoke glowingly of Vickroy after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Casey did that to perfection." Casey Vickroy singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, walked in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
