Hartford Takes Round 2
Tuesday, September 27th , 2050
The Round 2 didn't live up to the billing from those who thought it would be an all-out battle to the last game.
But the Hartford Defenders are no doubt pleased by the results, as they have knocked out the Santa Clara Vanguard 4-2 to advance to the Round 3.
"It doesn't matter how you win it, as long as you win it and get yourself moving forward," said Defenders third baseman Javier Cruz. "I know a lot of people thought this was going to be a really tight series the whole way through, but we're glad it didn't go right down to the wire."
Hartford won the final game by a score of 3-1 at Rockets Ballpark.
Cruz was named series MVP after hitting .455 with a .478 on-base percentage. He also had 2 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 5 runs.
The Hartford Defenders will play against the Galway Gales in the next round. Galway won their series against the Sao Paolo Churrasco 4 games to 1. The Round 3 schedule will be announced after the Round 2 finishes.
