Vipers Prevail, as Round 1 Goes to the Wire
Sunday, September 15th , 2047
The fans in Vung Tau are delirious, while there is little joy to be found in Grand Rapids.
The Vung Tau Vipers finished off the Grand Rapids Whitecaps 3-1 in the deciding game of the Round 1 played at Vung Tau Diamond.
They took the series 4-3 and will now head to the Round 2.
For his standout play, Vung Tau center fielder Lane Wichert was voted the series' Most Valuable Player.
He batted .385, drove in 8 runs and scored 4 to lead his club to victory.
"We could never really figure out how to pitch to Wichert and that doomed us," said Whitecaps manager Bobby Espinosa. "Hats off to Vung Tau, though. That was a great series."
The Vung Tau Vipers don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Santa Clara Vanguard - Harrisburg Senators series. That series is tied at 3 games apiece. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
