Barriga and Estrada Suspended 5 Games
Thursday, August 28th , 2042
In an announcement today, the league informed Kevin Barriga of Baltimore and Bill Estrada of Harrisburg that they both had been suspended 5 games for fighting in a recent game.
The league president told them, "This type of aggressive behavior will not be tolerated in this league."
Barriga wasn't happy with the length of his suspension. He thought he got the worst deal and told the league commissioner, "In any fight, whoever throws the first punch should get a more severe penalty. If I threw the first punch, I'd expect to get the most punishment. Whoever took the blow should get a lesser punishment."
His manager agreed with him and said something needs to be done about it. "Barriga is right. The league needs to look at its policy and make sure the punishment fits the crime."
This year Barriga is hitting .273 with 5 home runs and 29 RBIs in 67 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .357 with 28 walks and 36 runs scored.
This season he has made 70 relief appearances, collecting 5 saves. Estrada has worked 76.2 innings, yielding 44 hits and giving out 16 free passes while striking out 104. He has a 6-2 record with a 2.11 ERA.
