Streak Finally Over, Elliott Held Hitless Saturday, July 8th , 2051 It was the best of both worlds for the Memphis BBQ at Phoenix Ballpark, as they defeated the Phoenix Palisades, 6-0, and also snapped Bryce Elliott's 27-game hitting streak. The 24-year-old Phoenix center fielder failed to get a hit in 4 at-bats. "Nothing personal against Elliott, we just wanted to win the game," said BBQ skipper Matt Butler. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing." When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Elliott frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won." So far this season, Elliott is hitting .354 with 3 home runs, 13 RBIs and 23 runs scored. He has 52 hits in 147 at-bats and a .429 OBP. |
