Koonts Reaches 2500 Saturday, June 24th , 2051 The Buffalo 8-2 loss to Brooklyn wasn't all bad. Something good came out it, at least for Nick Koonts. As a consolation prize he got the 2500th hit of his career. The veteran Buffalo left fielder went 1-for-4 in the game and added his name to the coveted 2500-hit club. He was given a five-minute ovation by the crowd, which included his wife and family and quite a few former Buffalo teammates. "I could have scripted it better," Koonts commented to the press after the game, "a win would have made it a lot more enjoyable. But what the hey... hit #2500 ain't so bad."
