Batley Gets 5 Hits
Thursday, August 22nd , 2047
It was a sensational day at the plate for Pete Batley as he led the charge to a nifty 13-6 win over the Hyenas. The Lansing shortstop was pure misery for the East Haddam pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 5 hits in 5 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.
"Batley put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said Joe Jankowski, manager for the Hyenas, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
Pete Batley singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Adam D'Amonte in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, doubled in the 5th and singled in the 7th.
Thus far this season in 80 games, Batley is batting .324 with 21 home runs, 72 RBIs and 52 runs scored. He has 103 hits in 318 at-bats.
