The Buffalo Buffalo got a great start from 42-year-old right-hander John Hoover, as Buffalo won the contest, 4-1, at The Greenhouse. Hoover threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball in the win, which allowed the Buffalo to grab a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Hoover threw well for Buffalo, thwarting the Portland offense. The right-hander tossed 105 pitches over 8 innings. He allowed just 1 run on 5 hits.

"John pitched like a son-of-a-gun," said Buffalo manager Jim Punk42ae.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Greenhouse in Buffalo.
