Abitia Shines in 8-5 Kyiv Win
|
The Kyiv Cossacks topped the Lansing Red Storm, 8-5, with second baseman Noah Abitia playing a big role. Abitia was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 4 for the Cossacks in the win. Bill Williams earned the win for Kyiv. He lasted 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 5-6. Evan King notched his 6th save in 10 chances.
With Kyiv leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Abitia hit a changeup from Jon Flint for a 3-run home run. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Cossacks ahead, 4-0.
"I just tried to put the barrel on it," said Abitia.
Kyiv now sits at 30-35, while Lansing falls to 17-49.
