Portland turned a good performance from starting pitcher Sam Davis into a 5-2 triumph over the Detroit Pizzas at Beavers Park. Portland has now won 3 straight, while the Pizzas have lost 3 in a row.

Bobby Gingerich had a big 2-run home run for the Beavers in the bottom of the second inning. With Portland trailing 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a splitter from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Chikara Nakamoto and swatted a home run to right. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Beavers ahead, 2-1.

"It was just a matter of executing," said Portland manager GM bigbluex02.
