Chicks Come Up Short at Kyiv, 2-1
|
The Kyiv Cossacks, behind a great outing from Adam Dodson, who finished 2nd in the FL in wins with 18 in 2037, defeated the Memphis Chicks, 2-1, at Kyiv Grounds. Jimmy Gold earned his 26th save in 32 tries. After today's action, Kyiv sits at 69-75, while Memphis falls to 69-73.
Kyiv took a 2-1 lead on Jimmy Rommel's 11th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Rommel hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Memphis pitcher Billy Roland visibly frustrated.
"It never gets old," said Dodson. "Winning, that is."
