Knights Need Extra Frames to Get Past Beavers
|
The Brooklyn Knights defeated the Portland Beavers, 5-3, in 13 innings. Josh Deere, who finished 3rd in the FL in extra base hits with 88 in 2046, played a big role. Deere hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Knights in the win. Brooklyn reliever Brian Masse picked up the win, raising his record to 3-2. Ray Barber was tagged with the loss. Brooklyn is now 64-68, Portland 57-75.
Deere delivered in the clutch for Brooklyn. In the bottom of the 13th, he took a 2-1 sinker from Portland pitcher Ray Barber and parked it over the fence. The 2-run home run won it for Brooklyn.
Deere said his team "played with focus."
