Knights Lose to Cossacks, 4-1
|
Kyiv used a superb performance from starting pitcher Sam Mooney to down the Brooklyn Knights, 4-1. Mooney, now 4-2, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 9, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Kyiv is now 19-27, while Brooklyn is 35-12.
Bobby Rigling dealt the Knights a blow in the top of the fifth. Batting with the bases loaded and Kyiv leading 2-0, Rigling, who is tied for 8th in the FL in stolen bases with 10, hit a 0-2 fastball for a run-scoring single.
"Sam was throwing strikes, locating well," said Kyiv manager Boris Lahutin.
