Kyiv and Waikiki duked it out and the Cossacks came out victorious.

The Kyiv Cossacks grabbed a win, 5-2, over the Waikiki Wayfinders at Kyiv Grounds. Kyiv designated hitter Victor Dotel went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Picking up the win was Jimmy Gold. He went 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. The right--hander struck out 5 and walked 2.

Jeremy Gillespie had a big 2-run home run for the Cossacks in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Kyiv trailing 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from fan favorite Joe Johnson and punished it. The result was his 10th home run of the season, which put the Cossacks on top, 3-2.

"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Gillespie.
