The Detroit Pizzas besoiled an otherwise fine performance by East Haddam first baseman Vladsislas Wanzha by beating the Hyenas, 8-7, at Pizzas Ballpark. Wanzha was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Detroit is now 17-18, while East Haddam is 14-21.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Detroit first baseman Rourke Hamburg, facing Joe Gorman, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Pizzas the 8-7 win.

"The game of baseball will test you," said Evan Compton, the Detroit skipper. "This one tested us."
