Hyenas Get Extra-Inning, 2-1 Win
|
East Haddam Hyenas starter Steve Ashcraft pitched a strong game against the Kyiv Cossacks at Kyiv Grounds, leading the Hyenas to victory, 2-1. Justin Kennedy earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record is now 3-3. By defeating Kyiv, the third-place Hyenas improved to 43-49.
East Haddam won the game in part because of Sam Collado. The center fielder ripped a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Hyenas ahead, 2-1. For the game, Collado had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
In postgame comments, Ashcraft said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
