Cossacks Get 6-3 Win Versus Dublin
|
With shortstop Alberto Salinas leading the charge, the Kyiv Cossacks defeated the Dublin Porters, 6-3, at Kyiv Grounds. Salinas, who finished 2nd in the FL in triples with 6 last year, was 2 for 2 with 2 singles and 2 walks. Travis Provenza snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-0 on the season. Adam D'Amonte suffered the loss. Cheong-won Hwang earned his 16th save in 18 chances.
Chris Nicotra went 1 for 5 for Kyiv. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring single off Adam D'Amonte. It was his 88th hit of the season.
Salinas called the win "a collective effort."
Kyiv raised its record to 52-36 with the win.
