Howell Holds Lakes Scoreless
It wasn't easy but the Concord Blue Devils made it look that way.

Starter Justin Howell shut out the Killarney Lakes despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Concord Blue Devils cruised to victory, 3-0. Howell allowed only 4 hits and rang up 5 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.

"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."

Up to now Howell has recorded a record of 6-2. In 2 starts he has fanned 43 batters in 44 innings with a 2.05 ERA.
