Los Angeles Loses, 6-4, in 12
|
St. Louis and Los Angeles duked it out and the Archies came out victorious.
Los Angeles got a valiant performance from pitcher Steve Wilkerson, but it wasn't enough to beat the St. Louis Archies. St. Louis won the game, 6-4. Wilkerson threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Alex Garcia claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 5 hits in 1.2 innings. His record stands at 1-0. Joe Braun collected his 1st save.
St. Louis used the timely hitting of Mike Mercado to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Archies on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Mercado said.
Los Angeles falls to 0-3.
