6-for-7 Day for Rodriguez
Wednesday, January 6th , 2049
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 6-for-7 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Jerry Rodriguez, it came around today.
The 23-year-old second baseman scattered hits all over Toronto Grounds to pace the 24-2 Philadelphia Spartans victory over the Pittsburgh Bats.
Pittsburgh skipper Edwin Briceno told reporters in the press room that "Rodriguez deserves a hat-tip."
"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Rodriguez hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."
Jerry Rodriguez singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, walked in the 2nd, tripled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and grounded out in the 8th.
Thus far this season, Rodriguez is hitting .421 with 6 home runs, 31 RBIs and 49 runs scored. He has 64 hits in 152 at-bats and has played in 31 games.
