Rice Silences Pittsburgh, 12-0
Tuesday, January 9th , 2052
The Pittsburgh Bats were almost helpless in their 12-0 loss to the Philadelphia Spartans and hurler Bryan Rice. Rice kept the Bats confused all game, spinning a 4-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Rice," Pittsburgh manager Jordan Murray said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 24-year-old right-hander had 3 walks and 7 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Rice said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
In 6 starts this season, Rice has compiled a 5-0 record and a 0.99 ERA.
