Williams Hits for Cycle Against Portland Monday, August 28th , 2051 Getting 4 hits in a game is no easy feat, but doing it to hit for the cycle is even more rare. Casey Williams of the Mexico City Mole pulled it off at Mole Grounds, going 4-for-4 against the Portland Mavericks. His batting escapades sparked the Mole to a win, 8-7. Williams tallied 3 runs and drove in 2 during the game. Hitting for the cycle is particularly rare because of the different skills required - enough power for a home run, enough speed for a triple and enough patience at the plate to see at least four hittable balls. "It just happened," Williams said to reporters after the win. "Must have been fate or something, I wasn't expecting it. Heck, I wasn't even really trying for it." Casey Williams hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Hector Lopes in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, walked in the 6th and tripled in the 9th. So far this season, Williams is batting .410 with 35 home runs, 104 RBIs and 93 runs scored. He has 177 hits in 432 at-bats, 53 walks and a .489 OBP. Williams has played in 120 games. View Boxscore |
