Players Suspended in Imperials-Bulldogs Donnybrook Sunday, May 19th , 2052 Yesterday at Spokane Grounds Frank Cervantez and Jose Gomez got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Cloverleaf Imperials and Spokane Bulldogs. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Cervantez will have to sit out 2 while Gomez would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. This season, Cervantez has 5 home runs and a .301 batting average. This year, Gomez has worked 34.1 innings with 27 strikeouts en route to a 1-1 record and a 2.62 ERA. |
