Gibson Pounds 3 HR Against Diamonds Thursday, June 22nd , 2051 Georgetown Spinners left fielder Jim Gibson sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little. Prior to the start of today's contest with the Laredo Diamonds, Gibson told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times. "During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber." The big day from Gibson pushed the Spinners past the Diamonds, 10-1. To go along with the homers, he collected 9 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Gibson told reporters after the game. Jim Gibson grounded out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Greg Sall in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Greg Sall in the 4th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Jim Unknown in the 5th and flied out in the 8th. On the season, Gibson is batting .317 with 7 home runs and 38 RBIs. He has played in 44 games. |
