Richfield Halts Vann's Hitting Steak
Thursday, May 19th , 2050
Jefferson left fielder Chris Vann came into today's game against the Richfield Outlaws on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.
The Outlaws did their jobs well, beating the Jefferson J-Hawks, 3-2, and holding Vann hitless to snap his 23-game hitting streak. The 21-year-old left fielder had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-3, telling reporters only that he "came up short."
"What Chris did was exciting and quite an achievement," said J-Hawks manager Chris Wacek. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 23 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
This season, Vann is batting at a .300 clip with 5 home runs and 26 RBIs.
