3 Home Runs for Boggs
Wednesday, June 7th , 2051
Calgary Winter shortstop Bryan Boggs sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little.
Prior to the start of today's contest with the Georgetown Spinners, Boggs told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times.
"During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber."
The big day from Boggs pushed the Winter past the Spinners, 8-6. To go along with the homers, he collected 5 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Boggs told reporters after the game.
Bryan Boggs hit a two-run home run off Willie Crus in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Willie Crus in the 4th, singled in the 5th, walked in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 9th.
Thus far this season, Boggs is hitting .286 with 7 home runs, 19 RBIs and 18 runs scored. He has 50 hits in 175 at-bats and has played in 47 games.
