Reno-Portland Brawl, Arellano and Suffel Suspended Sunday, May 7th , 2051 Yesterday at Rattlers Stadium William Arellano and Kenny Suffel got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Reno Rattlers and Portland Mavericks. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Arellano will have to sit out 2 while Suffel would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. This year, Arellano is hitting .224 with 2 home runs. This year in 6 starts, Suffel has recorded 2 wins and absorbed 1 loss. He has pitched 31.2 innings, allowed 25 hits, struck out 24 and has a 3.69 ERA. |
