Louisville Stops Russell Hit Streak Monday, May 9th , 2050 For once, it was the Georgetown Spinners picking up the slack for Tyler Russell. The club's "offensive catalyst," as Georgetown manager Wil Chicas has frequently called him, went uncharacteristically silent and saw his 26-game hitting streak snapped by the Louisville Prairie Thunder. Russell was bailed out by the rest of the Spinners, however, who stopped the Prairie Thunder, 13-8. The 21-year-old center fielder finished the day 0-for-5, and told reporters at the postgame press conference that "everybody did their job but me." "Not that it was a huge problem -- we still won the game," he said with a grin. "The streak was a good run though. I'll try to start another one tomorrow." Thus far in 2050, Russell is hitting .336 with 8 home runs, 19 RBIs, 27 runs scored and has compiled a .400 OBP. |
