Marquart Blasts 3 into Bleachers Saturday, April 23rd , 2050 Brett Marquart brutalized the Tacoma Oilmen pitching staff, launching three home runs in the 16-15 Laredo victory at Ballpark of Laredo. The Laredo Diamonds first baseman was red-hot, the ball just exploding off his bat all day. "I don't try to hit homers," he said later. "I try to go out there and put a good swing on the ball, and sometimes it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one." For the game, he went 3-for-6 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Too much Brett Marquart today," Oilmen manager Bill Shearin said. "That's my assessment of the game. That's what our problems boiled down to." Brett Marquart flied out in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Ricky Rendon in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Juan Alonso in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Edwin Garcia in the 7th and flied out in the 8th. Currently Marquart is batting .190 with 4 hits and 3 home runs. He has knocked in 5 runs and scored 5 times. |
