Georgetown-Medford Brawl, Portis and Vasquez Suspended Thursday, August 15th , 2052 After an intense confrontation, both the Spinners Shawn Portis and the Axemen Alvaro Vasquez were handed their punishments today. The league commissioner's office issued suspensions for an on-the-field conflict that occurred at a recent Georgetown-Medford game. Shawn Portis will miss 4 games, while Alvaro Vasquez was suspended for 2 games. "Sometimes we go too far and have to pay the consequences," Shawn Portis commented later. "Hopefully cooler heads will prevail the next time we play." Thus far this season, Portis is hitting .236 with 7 home runs, 17 RBIs and 15 runs scored. He has 25 hits in 106 at-bats and has played in 33 games. |
