5-Hit Game for Laird Sunday, September 17th , 2051 5 hits in a game is a rare thing, but Long Beach's Nate Laird made it happen against the Generals. Everything came together at the plate for the 19-year-old catcher as he collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats -- and helped the Paradise triumph, 27-7, at Ballpark of Colorado Springs. "I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Laird said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em." Nate Laird singled in the 2nd, walked in the 3rd, reached via catchers interference in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
