Monday, September 6th , 2049
Nicolas van Emmerik put the Cork Claws on his shoulders as they downed the Long Island Ducks in the Round 1.
Cork won the deciding game by a 10-8 count at Ducks Ballpark and wrapped up the series 4-1.
van Emmerik played a key role in the victory, as he was named series MVP for his offensive output, which included a .619 batting average with a .714 on-base percentage, 2 home runs, 4 RBI and 11 runs scored.
"I told myself it was time to step it up and help the team win and I'm glad I was able to do that," he said.
The Cork Claws don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Colorado Springs Generals - Can Tho Cobras series. Can Tho leads the series 3 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
