Saturday, August 28th , 2049
Jacksonville Alligators second baseman Fernando Castillo put on a dazzling display of power at Alligators Stadium against the Pueto Rico Ranas. In the 23-3 Alligators victory, Castillo penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.
"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Pueto Rico manager Alfonso Rivera said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."
Along with his three home runs, the 17-year-old had 5 hits in 5 at-bats, 11 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Castillo said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."
Fernando Castillo hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit a GRAND SLAM off Tommy Barrowcliff in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Jim Unknown in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Marco Paz in the 7th and was hit by a pitch in the 8th.
A look at his current stats shows Castillo with a .341 average, 3 home runs, 19 RBIs and 10 runs scored. He has played in 22 games.
