Nómadas del Sol End Dudley Streak
Sunday, August 21st , 2050
Galveston second baseman Dustin Dudley came into today's game against the Nogales Nómadas del Sol on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.
The Nómadas del Sol did their jobs well, beating the Galveston Gumdrops, 8-2, and holding Dudley hitless to snap his 23-game hitting streak. The 21-year-old second baseman had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-4, telling reporters only that he "came up short."
"What Dustin did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Gumdrops manager Jonathan Bonner. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 23 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
So far this year in 24 games, Dudley is hitting .434 with 1 home run, 19 RBIs and 34 runs scored.
