Rhome Snaps Rodriguez Streak at 24 Sunday, August 13th , 2051 It was a doubly miserable day for Juan Rodriguez of the Long Island Ducks, as he saw his 24-game hitting streak end and his team lose, 11-5, to the Rhome Rhavioli at Banner Island Ballpark. The 19-year-old shortstop was held hitless in 4 at-bats by the Rhavioli. "Anyone on a 24-game hitting streak is going to be a tough out," Rhome manager Tom Scherger said later. "But we had a plan and we were careful about it, and got it done." In the current season, Rodriguez has put up a .352 batting average with 113 hits, 5 home runs, 38 RBI and scored 45 runs. |
