Henderson Put in Cooler, Hitless Against Jacksonville
Tuesday, August 3rd , 2049
It was the best of both worlds for the Jacksonville Alligators at Alligators Stadium, as they defeated the Galveston Gumdrops, 3-0, and also snapped Garrett Henderson's 20-game hitting streak. The 23-year-old Galveston center fielder failed to get a hit in 2 at-bats.
"Nothing personal against Henderson, we just wanted to win the game," said Alligators skipper Ilya Usachenko. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing."
When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Henderson frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won."
Thus far this year, Henderson is batting .405 with 2 home runs, 9 RBIs and 15 runs scored.
