Hit Streak Over, Bratwurst Stop Gonzalez Wednesday, July 19th , 2051 It was the best of both worlds for the Sheboygan Bratwurst at Grosse Pointe Grounds, as they defeated the Grosse Pointe Better Mades, 6-3, and also snapped Mario Gonzalez's 21-game hitting streak. The 18-year-old Grosse Pointe shortstop failed to get a hit in 5 at-bats. "Nothing personal against Gonzalez, we just wanted to win the game," said Bratwurst skipper Matt Minor. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing." When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Gonzalez frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won." This year, Gonzalez has hit at a .376 clip with 50 RBIs, 10 home runs and 52 runs scored. |
