Gonzalez Ups Hit Streak to 20 Consecutive Games
Monday, July 17th , 2051
With 1 hit at Grosse Pointe Grounds, Mario Gonzalez added another game to his hitting streak -- the Grosse Pointe shortstop has now hit safely for 20 games in a row. But the hitting feat wasn't enough for the Better Mades, as they fell, 17-7, to the Sheboygan Bratwurst.
"Frankly, I don't care about hits," Sheboygan manager Matt Minor said later. "I'll let him get 5 hits in 5 at-bats if it means we get a win." Mario Gonzalez flied out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Mitch McKenzie in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, struck out in the 6th and flied out in the 8th.
So far this season, Gonzalez has hit .381 with 10 home runs, 50 RBIs and scored 52 times.
