At Grosse Pointe Grounds, Kelley showed how well he learned that lesson. The 18-year-old first baseman had 5 hits in 6 at-bats for the Grosse Pointe Better Mades, helping his team knock off the Cork Claws by a score of 18-1. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did." Sam Kelley singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 7th.
