Gumdrops Halt Fante Hit Streak Sunday, July 2nd , 2051 Gordie Fante's 22-game hitting streak was snapped at Gumdrops Grounds. The 19-year-old Nogales Nómadas del Sol right fielder failed to get a hit in 4 at-bats in the game against the Galveston Gumdrops, but Nogales came out the winner, 8-5. "I don't think the streak was ever a big deal to Gordie," Nómadas del Sol manager Kevin Crabtree said after the game. "He ain't that type of guy. He just wants to help the team win ballgames." In his season totals Fante has 6 home runs and a .324 batting average. |
