Claws Win Round 1 Wednesday, September 11th , 2047 The Cork Claws are riding high after winning the Round 1 and eliminating the Corpus Christi Beach Boys by a series score of 4-2. The final blow came tonight at Claws Ballpark, when Cork secured its spot in the Round 2 with a 4-3 victory. "It feels good to put them away because we really didn't want to let them crawl back into this series," said shortstop Pat Koerber, who was named series MVP. "A team like that, you need to bury them when you get the chance." Koerber certainly helped his team's cause, as he hit .304 with a .407 on-base percentage in the series. He also chipped in 2 home runs, drove in 5 RBI and scored 6 runs. The Cork Claws will play against the Melbourne Aces in the next round. Melbourne won their series against the Vermont Expos 4 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. View Boxscore |
