Hits Galore: Martinez Drills 5 Hits Saturday, May 11th , 2052 Luis Martinez was at the head of a Sapporo hit parade at Sea Eagles Ballpark. The third baseman went to the plate 6 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Sea Eagles to a nice 20-8 victory over the Pueto Rico Ranas. "I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Martinez told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today." Ranas skipper Monte Benevidez said later that the club gave up "too much plate." "Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that." Luis Martinez hit an RBI single in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th and hit an RBI single in the 6th. Thus far this season in 17 games, Martinez is batting .455 with 2 home runs, 20 RBIs and 18 runs scored. He has 35 hits in 77 at-bats. View Boxscore |
