Dillard 5-for-5 for Melbourne
Wednesday, August 12th , 2048
It was a sensational day at the plate for Gene Dillard as he led the charge to a nifty 10-8 win over the Claws. The Melbourne right fielder was pure misery for the Cork pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 5 hits in 5 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.
"Dillard put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said Bryce DeMont, manager for the Claws, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
Gene Dillard doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a sac fly in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This season, Dillard is batting .401 with 132 hits, 11 home runs, 75 RBIs, .452 OBP and has scored 76 runs.
